July is proving to be a busy month with works in two shows, three and an award at The Sooke Fine Arts Show, July 24-August 2, and a whole lot more in my solo show at The Collective Works Gallery, July 30-August 12. Spring has come and gone, in a flash it seems, with little time for creative activity other than some considerable spring cleaning at home. Time, with his dark mask and soft, slippery tread, continues to take off with my plans and schedules. I wrote about him in this post, Time, The Beckoning Thief: http://chiaink.wordpress.com/2010/03/10/time-the-beckoning-thief/
A beautiful full moon in April reminded me of a poem I had written and an accompanying etching that I had created. This post, April Dream She Will - from poem to print, discusses the inspiration, process and flow of my work. http://chiaink.wordpress.com/2010/04/28/april-dream-she-will-from-poem-to-print/
A rock concert attended in May was the inspiration for the following post, No More Yellow Brick Road. I find tremendous inspiration in songs and often refer to song lyrics in the creation and titles of my artwork. This concert not only led me back to the print described in the post but to an incredibly brave and inspirational man, Nick Vujicic. http://chiaink.wordpress.com/2010/05/23/no-more-yellow-brick-road/
June finds me working furiously on my upcoming show which I have titled Mirror, Mirror. Taking the concept of personal journey from my previous show in January, In Her Eyes, further along its labyrinthine path, this show explores the themes of self perception and presentation. This post, Will You Look In The Mirror?, presents one of the key pieces in this new show, which will take place at Collective Works Gallery in Fernwood, Victoria from July 30 to August 12. http://chiaink.wordpress.com/2010/06/21/will-you-look-in-the-mirror/ Stay tuned for further information about the show in the upcoming days and weeks!

Just spent the weekend with four fabulous, eager students at the School House Studio, teaching the art of photo etching. Thank you Rose, Jane, Joanne and Kit for your enthusiasm and generosity with your praise. It was a pleasure and an honour to guide you through this process. The beautiful results are below.

The first photo etching workshop of this year will take place this weekend, February 6&7. Looking forward to a fun, creative weekend with new and returning students. Two spots are still open. Below are some images from the fall workshop.

The opening reception for my In Her Eyes show this past Saturday was a fabulous, fun filled affair, attended by friends, family, fellow artists and supporters and a small but sizable number of people I had yet to meet. The evening passed in a whirlwind of greetings and chats wonderful but not nearly long enough. A few pics of the evening are posted here but the bulk of images from the evening are on my Flickr site, here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/42284018@N06/sets/72157623200117436/
